  • Well, we had high winds — lost a big limb off a tree, but not as bad as you think. It was hanging by a thread from a previous storm. Too high for me to get to, so thanks wind for bringing it down safely where i could wrangle it.

But the real exciting news here is, my archenemy — The Gutter—banged against the house all night. I was a-skeered.  I was waiting for it to swing off the trim and through my front window like Spiderman.

This must stop. To save us all, it is imperative I develop a mathematical formula that not only captures The Gutter, but will also control its future in our society.

  • ....from the world of The GNT.....my daughter-in-law had the youngest grandbaby out for a walk in our local cemetery today....he's 2 and it's a quiet, safe place to stroll.....here's the random.....my parents are laid to rest there, he's never seen the headstone, nor was he ever taken by the location.....he made a bee-line straight for it and spent some time checking it out.....not gonna lie, I choked the hell up when I saw the pics and what he had done....love you Bryson and miss you Mom and Pop.... <3

I'll get all weird here, but I think children have a sense.

My niece's little girl was about 3 and lives clear across the country.  After my mom died,  my niece heard her talking to someone.  She walked in her room and asked her, who you talking to?  And she said, "granny.  She's sitting right there."  And she pointed to a place in her room.

    It's interesting to think about.

I got myself sort of bummed.  I was listening to a group of  thirty year olds talking about horror. Obviously very successful and smart, but their horror interests were new school. No love for the history of horror. No old things mentioned .  Not one mention of stephen king.  One guy asked if anyone heard about that new series, NOS4A2. Only one person had heard of it but knew nothing about it.  Wth.  And this was a group dedicated to all things horror.  It wasn’t a niche group.

I wanted to open a vein and bleed on their 30 year old faces.

Of course you’ll say, turn the channel. Don’t listen to them if it bothers you that much.  I couldn’t. The conversation was the mother of all train wrecks. I couldn’t listen away.

I hear you Hedda, I know people who won't watch a movie if it's in black & white, no amount of pleading on my behalf will convince them.

If they hadn't heard of Hill what was New  school to them?

  • They are missing out!  It’s the history of whatever genre. It’s the roots, man!!!  The evolution of art, people, times, settings, locations that don’t exist  any more!  You see the huge technological advances in film, makeup, special effects.  All that stuff and more.   I wasn’t alive when that old silent, black and white movie of nosferatu  was made, but i sought it out. It was a must that i see it.  It was a terrific movie.

Honestly, i have never felt so old as listening to them talk.

Right???  They were talking new movies on this guy’s shudder queue.  Did you guys watch this? Was it good? That sort of thing.  He had one old movie in there and no one could tell him a thing about it. I forget which one but i think it was a Peter Cushing film.  I had seen it, i remember that.  I was sort of in a coma at this point.

It's going to be our grand babies and their kids that miss out if all of this gets lost through the lack of an open mind. 😔

And there are good, new horror movies. Not putting those down.  Just, no love shown the elder gods of horror tradition.

rob zombie  is the closest old/ new guy they have talked about. That i’ve heard.

in all fairness, i did not listen to their whole conversation, so maybe i missed praise.   I sure hope so.
