Hi there all you chefs out there

Most recent new recipe I tried was this one:

To Stir With Love

It was a chicken and vegetable stir fry with a sauce using apricot jam, soya sauce, garlic etc.

It wasn't too bad - they recommend you have it with hot cooked rice or noodles

Above is the recipe (I don't know who Hanna Plummer is) but it is originally from a cookbook I have out from the library

I cleaned our deep fryer today - it had been sitting for probably two years, not being used. It was pretty bad but now it looks like new.

(This happened just because I had a craving for deep fried pickles)

So now I have a sparkling clean T-Fal EZ-clean deep fryer plus a 3 L jug of corn oil but I have lost my appetite for anything fried

Don't know who this guy is but apparently his name is Uncle Scott (that's the type of fryer I was talking about)

One of our kids bought one like this when he was still living at home and oh my God. The whole house smelled of deep fried food whenever he used it. (Teenager, he used it daily)
When he moved out it was the first thing I helped him pack. 😄

I know what you mean! That's why I asked Andy to use it out on the back deck - you're not supposed to use an extension cord but I didn't want the whole house to smell like a fast food joint

Even though it's supposed to have a sort of 'filter' on the lid, it doesn't really work

Andy likes to make what he calls "fresh chips";  I told him he'll have a stroke or a heart attack

We have one of these that my Mom gave me

Actually we use our air fryer a lot more - that old deep fryer had been sitting there for about two years (which I hate to admit)

By the way - what does "fresh oil and chips" mean? Is that some sort of Road Work sign?

Love chocolate bunnies. Yes, they oil the  roadways and  throw down rock chips to resurface roads. 

Then they post 20 mile  per hour speed limit  signs which everyone ignores which throws up rock  chips into windshields, cracking them.  It’s a damn nightmare. I avoid rock chipped roads.

Oh wow, I completely misunderstood what the oil and chips was all about.

In reality, that sign is roadway construction.

I had no idea it was a real road sign, 😄 it would never be called that here. (Tarseal and gravel)

So back to What's Cooking - Andy decided to buy a BBQ duck that was cut up and packaged at the grocery store - it's the one we go to that has a lot of Filipino, Asian and various other specialty foods.

Brought it home and heated it up in the oven in a cast iron pan - it was okay but not something I would want to eat a lot of - duck has a lot of fat

I had a Pizza today. Called Greko. It was Feta Cheese, Salami, Black Olives, Tomatoes and onion on it. Quite good.....
