  • Last night we watched Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F on Netflix. I haven't seen the original since it came out 40 years ago, but it was great fun watching the old (and I mean, old!) gang back together again for another romp wherein dozens of vehicles are destroyed, thousands of bullets are fired, and a good time is had by all. The only thing missing, I thought, was Eddie Murphy's laugh from the original, which was so infectious. Must have gone with age.

    I really liked him.

  • saw Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The fourth in the new series. Although not as good as the first ones it is still good. We are now several generations after Ceasars death and humans get rarer and rarer. I liked it. Great effects, you were totally convinced it was real apes moving around.

  • My second theater outing post-pandemic -- a matinee showing of Longlegs. There were only five people in the theater that early in the morning.

I went into it cold -- didn't even watch the trailer, so I had no idea what to expect. It's a chilling film with a few jump scares. Oddly disorienting camera angles and framings. People have been comparing it to Silence of the Lambs, which is sort of okay, but I found myself thinking more of Twin Peaks. I'm not sure how long it would have taken me to recognize Nicholas Cage. Directed by the son of Anthony (Psycho) Perkins. It's not perfect by any means...leaves a lot of questions unanswered...but I liked it.

I love the actresses involved. Might have to pass on it.

  • Saw A Quiet Place: Day One in the theater this morning -- an effective and surprisingly sentimental film with monsters and one darned cat that I would have ditched in five minutes! There are a lot of (obviously) quiet moments in the film, which allowed sounds to bleed through the walls from adjoining theaters, which was a little unnerving.

  • The Flash film - Wikipedia.......waaaaay to long, but it had it's moments.....not to mention the lead actor playing Flash has questionable moral character IRL which is ironic....

We watched it last night -- Colman loves to swear in real life, so I'll bet she had a blast making this film.

It was a fun little movie. Great cast. Olivia is just so good at conveying feelings. Her face was just overflowing.
