Dr. Perky sounds like the title of a, shall we say, "art film."

  • I hate deciding what to make for dinner. Hate it. Not a huge fan of the actual making of it, either. Sigh.
I'm going to avoid it a bit longer by getting the washing in and walking the dogs. 😁

I hear you Flakes, it's a pain in the arse, luckily my daughter has started volunteering to make dinbers for us which is great, I'll eat food someone else prepares but not what I prepare.

    What did you decide on?

Flakers, is there a very traditional New Zealand dish you cook that is scrumptious?

We had Satay chicken and vegetables with rice.

There are several different types of traditional NZ cuisine.  Hangi is the first, but I've never personally put one down, but have attended plenty.
Seafood is big in NZ: Kina, crayfish, mussels, oysters, whitebait... I won't touch any of that malarkey...(🤮)
And the third popular traditional dish is roast lamb and vegetables.

I love lamb. What veggies do nz’ers pair with their lamb dish?

Roast potatoes, kumara, (red skin, yellow flesh- sweet potato type thing) pumpkin, carrots, parsnips, then a green.. beans, peas or steamed broccoli.
The meat is cooked with fresh rosemary and then served with a mint sauce or jelly.

That's traditionally a winter version, in the summer the lamb might be cooked outdoors on a rotisserie spit, or BBQ'd, then served with fresh green salads, coleslaw and pasta salads.

Traditional Irish food is mostly stews , my wife likes them but my daughter and myself not so much...we normally stick to the old reliable, chicken, fish, steak, pork.....and if I cook any of it I won't eat it...

I like stews and casseroles, but really I think they're just great excuses for dipping thick slices of buttered crusty bread.
And further, the bread is mostly just a vehicle for creamy butter.
So maybe I should just eat butter? 🤔
