    They/Them

Kevin Bacon runs a “pray away the gay camp” minus the pray. He plays such a great Sinister which is = to and just as bad as Minister.

Elsbeth’s Carrie Preston is so sweet sappy scary in her part.

  • Le Vampire  du Dusseldorf.

A rather odd movie about the rather terrible serial killer Peter Kurten who roamed the streets of dusseldorf between 1913 and 1930 and is known to have killed 9 women and attempted to kill 31 others but his real score is probably much higher. Germany in the after WW 1 years was not very well in order. It is a french movie about a german serial killer. For Kurten the killing was not really what got him off but the violence without restraint. Thats why there is so many survivors. He sometimes used a knife and sometimes a hammer or scissors. He sometimes drank the blodd from his victims, dead or unconscious, which gave him his nickname. When he finally was caught he confessed but said that it was justified because he had been abused as a child. Between his other crimes he killed pigs, goats and swans. Not a nice guy...  And still he was seen as a loner, poor, drawn to thieving now and then but harmless. The movie is on Netflix and is from 1965 and is a dramatized version of real events. My main objection against it that it occasionally loses focus and also wants to depict the political climate in germany 1929-1930. SA (forerunner to SS) terrorizing  people, Hitler on the rise and so on. I think it would have been a better movie if had kept its focus. It is seldom a good idea to do two things at once. But it was interesting and i have never seen a movie about Kurten before which is a bit odd considering he is one of the first european serials that is often mentioned in books of serials after Jack The Ripper.

  • Watched The Kingdom with Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper and Jason Bateman as a small FBI team allowed (by a saudi prince)to investigate an attack on american citizens in Saudi Arabia. Decent Action/political thriller flick where i thought Bateman was more annoying than anything else but the other three were good. Not one you return to but clearly good enough to watch. Netflix

  • Watched Godzilla Minus One which was actually good! It was totally japanese which might have something to do with it. The american ones i seen have been rather lacking in most things except CGI. A good monster movie if thats your thing.

  • We enjoyed Conclave (Peacock), which takes you inside a fictional election for a new pope. Great performances by Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Isabella Rossallini and more. It's almost a thriller, with plenty of twists, turns and surprises.

This just must be based on Robert Harris novel Conclave which i really liked. Did not know they had made a movie out of it. Is it new?

Newish. It came out in theatres in October and hit streaming a couple of weeks ago. Yes, it is based on the Harris novel.

  • Watched Unbroken (2014). A biopic about Louis Zamperini, american runner that took bronze in the 1936 olympics and when war nroke out joined as part of a bombing squad, was taken prisoner by the japanese and is mostly a prisoners of war movie with some flashbacks. Directed by Angelina Jolie (did not know she had directed any movies) and written by the Coen brothers. Jack O'Connell in the lead as Zamperini. Ok, but to be honest there has been many better prisoners of war movies even if they perhaps werent biopics. Worth seeing.

Movie Review As Above So Below Chick Flicking Reviews.....if Indiana Jones, Blair Witch, Harry Potter and Sleeping Beauty had a group grope, this would be the mutated offspring....

    Second:

Outside 2024 Rotten Tomatoes....Zombie flick from the Philippines.....WAY to long, and I wanted to shoot the protagonist in the face within the first 15 minutes.....the zoms were the best part(s).....

  • Watched Small Things Like These.

A coal merchant in a small town uncovers abuse in the local convent,  he struggles, wondering if he's strong enough to take on the Catholic Church....

A beautifully portrayed piece, Collins Murphy gives an understated performance, deep and moving throughout.

  • Just watched Ivanhoe from 1982. Not because of Olivia Husseys death but because it is part of an admiitingly a bit strange tradition in Sweden. Since 1986 it has been aired every year on New Years Eve and is always much watched. Starring Anthony Andrews, Sam Neill, James Mason and Olivia Hussey with supporting roles by Lysette Anthony and John Rhys Davies it is a good movie with good actors and makes a good job of bringing Walter Scotts book to life . I know it from one scene to another but still....  it has become part of celebrating the new year. A little strange...........

  • Now i watched Holiday with Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black and Jude Law. Seen it before but it has become kind of my personal tradition to see it somerime during the holidays. It is a Christmas Romcom movie and its usually not my style at all but i have a very weak spot for this one.
