Heads up to anyone who does canvas work — NB, not sure if you got Michaels craft stores in Ireland???  I thought  of your  wife’s work—

Michaels is running their once  a year canvas sale at 70% off!  I bought 9 canvases of varying sizes but the largest and just as an example of the sale, that usually sells for 59.99 i got for 18 dollars!

    Stock up canvas users!

  • Just did the math.  Normally, all the canvases i bought would have cost me 179.91.

i got them all for $54.00

  • This week's project was Throwback Thursday harking back to my crafting in the '70s doing a macrame wall hanging. I painted the wooden balls in an ombre of blues (easier to see the different shades in person) to tie into the quilt.

Tracy is correct, it's trending again but with updated designs.

    That's a stunning shot.

  • That is stunning! She's just as good, if not better, than some professional photographers' work I've seen.

  • .....this is the unedited pic, she cropped out the buildings in the finished pic......she is so talented, and I just wish she'd see it in herself.....

I don't know if this is what Tracy is thinking, but I have seen that a lot of talented artists and crafters who are self-taught, don't value their work because of that. In their minds, if they haven't received formal training they're not "professionals" even though their talent is already there with or without any other training.

This might be DIY more than crafts but since I did make the macrame hangers, I guess it counts. :) I've always wanted to do something with the dead space above my sink but realized putting a shelf between the cabinets would block the light from the under cabinet fixture and I didn't want to put up anything that would mean drilling into the tile. It had looked even emptier before I had the gooseneck faucet installed last week but still too bare. Herbs had always been my thought for what would look good and be practical, too. It finally occurred to me I could hang pots by installing them from the underside of the top cabinet. Eureka! And voila.

Love it!  I'm stealing borrowing this idea, but I can't macramé, so I'll improvise.  Maybe some chain link or something.

I've started the quilt, but I had the idea to order some of my family tartan swatches from Scotland, and I'm waiting on those to arrive before I can finish.

PS:  I found these pots at Home Depot. They're plastic so a lot lighter weight but look like clay. I was a little worried about clay being too heavy and possibly not holding up with the cup hooks even though they screw in. Might not have been an issue but putting it out there just in case.

Great idea! Look forward to seeing pics of the finished quilt or even quilt in progress.
