We've been watching Slow Horses, I love it. The "Jackson Lamb" character (Gary Oldman)  is f'king classic, hilarious.
It's terrific. The next season arrives in September and it's already been renewed through S7.
Excellent, I'm very excited to hear this!

  • We started watching Sullivan's Crossing on Netflix last night. A cute show about a doctor who returns to her family home in Nova Scotia (which was the draw for us since that's where I lived in the 1980s). The doctor's father is played by "Luke" from the Gilmore Girls. Light entertainment but oh so nostalgic for me!

I'm also enjoying Ballard on Prime, the latest adaptation of Michael Connelly's books.
I’m watching Ballard too. Love the lead girl. But, john Carroll lynch, a terrific character actor — I don’t trust him! Every show I’ve seen him in, he’s been a bad, bad boy.

He is terrific. I won’t say if you’re right or wrong to not trust him, though.

Oh lord. He’s bad. Just not saying, you said. I know you said, didn’t you? 🤓

  • The new Dexter dropped but I’m going to wait for more episodes before starting it.

  • I just finished the latest season of Criminal Minds. An interesting conclusion to the Voit story.

  • “Someone has to watch the Watchmen.” God, i hope there are more than we know.

  • Ballard

So, in episode 4, they go to talk to a guy who gave an alibi for another guy in a shooting. He did it not because the  guy killed but— because he was with another man. So obviously, Lynch is who he was with. Which makes him a sympathetic character— but! I still think he’s part of the cover up.
Shoot. I don’t know. They all act shifty except for the volunteer intuitive girl, she seems genuine. And ballard of course. Do we see more of bosch? On episode 5.

    GNTLGNTNotaro
  • Yes. And there are cameos by several other Bosch regulars.

  • Started my binge watching of Yellowjackets. I only managed a few episodes of the first season (4, maybe 5) before they were unavailable for me. But now i have access to all three seasons on Skyshowtime. Started from the beginning again. I like this one. Excellent acting throughout both by the teenage versions and the adult ones of the characters. Dont know any of the young actors from before but the adult versions are headed by Melissa Lynskey, Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis and they are at the top of their game.

  • Watched the first season of The Terror, based on Dan Simmons novel, and i thought they made a good adaptation. There are more seasons they say but only the first is based on Simmons book. The book had a bit more creepy feeling of a soon-to-descend-upon-us doom about it than the series. It was built as a thriller drama with some supernatural parts (the monster obviously).

The second season is standalone and uses Japanese internment camps during WWII as its basis. It's quite creepy, too.

  • Watched the first episode of Dexter: Resurrection. Some fun cameos from the old series.

  • I'm kind of reluctant to see it because the first was so good.

Finally finished Poker Face. I thought it continued to be a great, fun, creative little series.

The ending music for the last episode of the season,  It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue by Bob Dylan, was so coincidental. I listen to a podcast called The Great Stories hosted by a Trev Downey. I absolutely love this guy’s voice. Anyway, that song and Bob inspired Joyce Carol Oates story Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?  Which is very ominous. Listening to different analyses of it, it’s a very dark, layered story.

As a side note, listen to Trev Downey read and discuss The Summer People by Shirley Jackson, a talented guy who should be an audiobook reader. Such a great reading he gives.

I adore Murderbot. The characters are fun. Trying so hard to be good people. It’s like a bunch of highly trained second graders doing their best to keep the classroom a safe space for everyone, including the hamsters and fish plus the spiders that wander in.

But, like every second grade classroom, there are always a couple of kids who deviate from the plan.

Skarsgard is great.  I am an ancient crone.  I WANT my last frivolous purchase on this earth to be sec unit/murderbot action figures. I want an army.

And Murderbot —(“ it’s what he calls himself so I’m just trying to honor that.” 🤣) loves a TV show called The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon. So much respect for the cast of that hilarious and important part of what makes Murderbot, Murderbot.

  • Oh man. I just cried over murderbot.

    Is there a season 2?

It was recently renewed for a second season. Don't know when it arrives though.
