  I dont remember how it was in the movie. In the book he presented two solutions (one of which were obviously the truth) and said that he would support whichever people agreed on. Are you an accessory if you dont tell the truth to the police even if you havent helped in any way before the crime??

  I think an argument could be made that you became an accessory after the fact by helping to cover up a crime.
