That’s a commitment.  I listened to all those hobbity bobbity  books on tape and hated them. I should have read the books like everyone else.

That’s a commitment.  I listened to all those hobbity bobbity  books on tape and hated them. I should gave read the books like everyone else. 

These are full cast radio plays Hedda, and it's a great cast so it's far better than a straightforward audio book reading.

open a vein if i had to listen to one more elf, orc, hobbit, golem, teletubbie song. Always in the same non existent tune,  the most monotone voice.  It was awful. So i didn’t like the books at all. Loved the movies  though.

And i honestly can’t tell you what happens. I read books, saw movies — there was a ring involved. I don’t know what happened to it. I loved gollum (sp?). Played by meryl streep.   . Really. I’ve totally forgotten the whole plot.

You thought so? The first book is slow when it sets the scene which is about half the book but after that its a big reading adventure that i couldn't possible tear myself away from. Book 2 and 3 is full of adventure from start to finish. Not slow in the least.

Yes I did struggle, but I enjoyed the core story.
