    Yeah, John has been very sick for quite a long time and was in a care home. He'd been divesting himself of his massive collection of galleys (ARCs) over the past several months. I never met him, but I corresponded with him a lot over the years.

    Michael Apted — creator of the 7Up series has died.  I haven’t had the chance to see the latest installment of the series but hope to see it very soon. In tribute, i would love to see the whole complete series again. Fascinating work.

    My wife and I stumbled upon 42 Up at the Museum of Fine Arts shortly after that installment came out, and we've been following along ever since. 63 Up isn't yet available here -- can't wait to see it, though.

    One of the great swedish actresses left us yesterday. Gunnel Lindblom. She mainly did theatre parts but had roles in several Bergman movies like The Seventh Seal, The Silence, Virgin Spring and Wild Strawberries and later The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. She became 89 years old
