  • Colour me dumb. I had no idea until that article. I knew he was the son of someone famous but could not find out who. Needless to say I am now even more pumped about reading his two books in addition to the great reviews Joe has been getting. And man, the resemblance in that picture is eerie!
  • I met Joe about ten years ago and I've been keeping mum about this, even when it was an open secret in many places, like the Shocklines message board. Even after Variety announced his parentage when announcing the movie deal for Heart-Shaped Box.
  • I realized I had two copies of 20th Century Ghosts so I put my trade paperback copy up for auction with a $5.00 opening bid. Since the book is available in such limited quantities, I didn't think I should hog two copies!

    Jordan Adapting Hill's Heart

Irish filmmaker Neil Jordan will adapt and direct the supernatural thriller film Heart-Shaped Box, based on the best-selling book by Joe Hill, Stephen King's son, Variety reported. Akiva Goldsman is producing for Warner Brothers.

Hill's spooky storyline revolves around an aging rock star with a penchant for the macabre. He can't refuse an offer to buy a suit on eBay that's said to contain a ghost. After the suit arrives, he begins to realize that while he wants the ghost gone, the ghost wants him dead.

Hill's book, published by William Morrow/HarperCollins, hit the bookstands in February and is his first novel. He is a prize-winning short-story writer who previously published the anthology 20th Century Ghosts.

Warner scooped up the film rights to Heart-Shaped Box (the title references a Nirvana song) a year ago, based on a short logline and an early peek at the prose.
