New Stephen King story for Postscripts #10
'Graduation Afternoon' will be included in the special tenth edition of the PS magazine, Postscripts.
The tenth issue is already set to be a bumper one, a Michael Marshall Smith special issue, to celebrate the double Guest of Honour appearances at the Toronto World Horror Convention in March of both Peter Crowther and Smith.
The bursting-at-the-seams contributors' list already includes no fewer than eight pieces of Smith's own work, alongside stories from some of horror and dark fantasy's finest and most exciting writers, including the likes of: Lucius Shepard, Joe Hill, Ramsey Campbell, Graham Joyce, Tim Lebbon, James Cooper, Nancy Kilpatrick, Rick Hautala, T.M. Wright, Thomas Tessier, Chris Fowler, Stephen Gallagher, Stephen Volk, Mark Morris, Peter Atkins, Allen Ashley, Lisa Tuttle, Chaz Brenchley, P.D. Cacek, Steven Erikson, Paul Jessup and Connie Willis.
The inclusion of an original piece by Stephen King is the icing on an already rich cake for Crowther, who told us: "I've been a fan of Stephen King's work since 'Salem's Lot (which I bought when it first appeared). As soon as I'd finished, I read Carrie and everything else he's written ever since.
"King is one of the best two or three storytellers alive today and, for me, one of the best half-dozen or so I've ever read. So, as you might imagine, it means a lot to have a story from him in what is a fairly landmark event for Postscripts and for PS itself.
"But let's not forget that, in addition to the King story, this issue contains 160,000 words instead of the usual 60,000 and features the cream of tales and tellers alike... Campbell, Erikson, Hill, Shepard, M.M. Smith (with eight pieces totalling more than 30,000 words) and Willis to name but six more (out of twenty-four!) . . . plus a Guest Editorial from horror wunderkind Stephen Jones.
"We reckon it's going to be a popular issue."
Postscripts #10 will be launched at the World Horror Convention at the end of March, but PS Publishing is taking pre-orders via the website for anyone who can't make it to Toronto. The magazine is available in three editions: A PPC semi-hardcover at £12 / $20 for anyone who just wants to read the incredible selection of fiction on offer, a hardcover at £25 / $45 if you'd like something that little bit more special, and a 200 copy only slipcased hardcover - for the true collectors and bibliophiles among you - at £75 / $135.
That special edition is bound to sell out fast, so get your order in sooner rather than later would be our advice.
