Same here.  Calling it self indulgent puzzles.  I sensed a lot of fear in many of the responses.

Darn on the Twelve review.  I had issues with the structure of his first book.  Sounds like The Twelve story structure will just exacerbate my problem.   :(

I found it way too easy to put the book down. It took me a lot longer to read than it should have. I read two or three others in between. It's not a terrible book, but it's a little disappointing and somewhat confusing.

Reminds me of the Ghost Road Blues book. Loved the first one. Nothing happened in the second and I never worked up the desire to read the third one.
