THE DARK TOWER I -- THE SCORE -- FINALLY AVAILABLE
THE DARK TOWER I: THE MUSICAL SCORE IS FINALLY AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ONLINE
After a long lull in news about The Dark Tower Score project, I'm happy to report that the music based on the first book, The Gunslinger, is finally available for order online.
Here's the Final Site with clips and everything: THE DARK TOWER SCORE PROJECT -- THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE
Anyway,
The reason for the lull in communication between now and the last time I posted is because the record label that I was originally going to press this disc with, Lympia Records, dropped out from under me due to cash flow problems. I’ve been looking into alternative ways of selling the music for a while now. Finally, I’m happy to say, I’ve found one. Tyler Marshall, formerly our Grand High Poobah here at TheDarkTower.net, coaxed me into this idea and now I’m selling The Dark Tower I: The Musical Score electronically, via PayPal. Originally he and I were planning a joint venture but he had to leave due to personal reasons so I'm flying solo.
Before he left though, he and I decided on a static price ($9.99). We hammered it out mostly based on PayPal's service charges (on us!). Ordering information is detailed on the website so go there for that.
AND THERE'S MORE GOOD NEWS...
The Drawing of the Three is coming very soon, later this year infact. I've already begun writing it and, all indications are now, it's just going to blow the first CD right out of the water. It will showcase a number of new character themes, including a Guitar melody for Eddie Dean, a new theme for Odetta Holms on Harmonica (in vein of early Jerry Goldsmith) with a counterpart "Witch's" variation for Detta Walker and countless new motifs, sub motifs and ideas.
Also, as it stands now, and this isn't just me making hype, the second score will be far, far better than this first, in quality and in presentation (it will be available in 5.1 surround sound -- where available -- and just technically it will surpass The Gunslinger in every single way). I've acquired new software and hardware, new samples from The UK's Philharmonic Orchestra and The University of Iowa, wonderful percussion and harps from Sample-Guru Gary Garritan, custom recorded ethnic instruments and so much more since I first began this over a year ago. In addition to all of that, I'm getting into the rhythm of mixing and writing simultaneously. I've learned a lot since I started.
Still though, I want this sequel and the next to be AS GOOD as they can possibly be. I've already gotten a new audio card and a keyboard but that's not what makes music work or not. No, I'm saving up for premium samples and these things cost money folks (just look up East-West's Orchestra Cube!). I wish whole-heartedly to work on attaining the absolute best I can sound-wise because The Waste Lands is not too far off and will have to be even better than The Drawing of the Three.
So, I'm setting up a fund, putting my own money aside every month for this. I won't ask for much, as much as you can spare, but any help at all would be appreciated. There's a PAYPAL DONATE Button on my site dedicated specifically to this. Anything at all that you can muster I'm fine with. As an additional bonus, a sign of appreciation if you will, for whoever donates I'll send you an early "test" track from The Drawing of The Three. It utilized some of Garritan's wonderful harp samples and percussive samples.
Thanks for all who have helped me get this out there,
...and this is only the beginning.
