Major League Baseball Productions, the Emmy® award-winning television and video production division of Major League Baseball, and ESPN Original Entertainment (EOE) will present, as part of the EOE “Season” series, “The Off Season: Boston’s Winter of Bliss,” a one-hour special chronicling the profound impact the Boston Red Sox have had in the “Red Sox Nation” and beyond since the Club’s historic comeback in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) and first victory in the World Series Championship since 1918.  “The Off Season: Boston’s Winter of Bliss,” will debut on Sunday, April 3 at 6 p.m. EDT on ESPN2.

In “The Off Season: Boston’s Winter of Bliss,” Major League Baseball Productions explores the effects of the Red Sox World Series Championship victory through intimate conversations and perspectives from various members of “Red Sox Nation” including celebrities, politicians, fans and the players who completed one of the most exciting championship runs in professional sports history.  The program features interviews and amusing observations from actors Ben Affleck, Denis Leary and Seth Myers, movie critic Jeffrey Lyons, movie directors/producers Bobby and Peter Farrelly, and author Stephen King.  In addition, Senator John Kerry (D-MA) provides insightful commentary on the mass appeal of the Red Sox.

“The Off Season: Boston’s Winter of Bliss” also offers fans a behind the scenes look at Curt Schilling’s rehabilitation as the six-time All-Star prepares for the season and the Red Sox 2005 Opening Day showdown with the Yankees.  Viewers will experience all of the unique sights and sounds of Spring Training™ as the Red Sox prepare to defend the title.

“The Off Season: Boston’s Winter of Bliss” will air prior to ESPN’s Baseball Tonight (7 p.m. EDT) and the season premiere of ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball (8 p.m. EDT), which will feature the 2005 opening night telecast of the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox facing Randy Johnson and the New York Yankees.  “The Off Season: Boston’s Winter of Bliss,” will be re-aired at 11 p.m. EDT following the game.
