They said "Come on up". So we did! (with video)
Sony Pictures Kingdom Hospital site has gotten an update and now contains a lot more then it did before.

I just wanted to let you know that ABC now has a website dedicated to Kingdom Hospital. You can find it at: http://abc.go.com/movies/kingdomhospital.html
18 images and a poster has also been released and can now be found on my site.
LEWISTON (AP) -- Maine's second-largest city hopes that an upcoming Stephen King miniseries will result in an influx of tourists.
The 15-hour TV series "Kingdom Hospital" which begins Wednesday night on ABC, is set in Lewiston.
Local officials say that even though the series was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, they can imagine drawing tourists who want to visit places portrayed in the show.
Lewiston Mayor Lionel Guay calls it the kind of publicity his city could never afford to buy.

Horrormeister hosts party at Sugar to celebrate TV movie.
Stephen King threw a party for the cast and crew of ABC's Kingdom Hospital last Saturday night at Sugarland Sugar on Powell street [in Vancouver].
According to our sources, he's a very generous man. It was a lavish spread with "copious amounts of great food" circulating on trays with much-appreciated frequency, and an even more appreciated open bar. A live jazz band was even hired for the occasion.
The horror icon himself (casually dressed in black) was making his "regular guy" rounds and talking amiably to everybody in the room, peons and bosses alike. ("He's like that on the set, too," says a crewmember.)
Our sources tell us that King indeed did film a cameo appearance for the now-airing miniseries, but we won't be offering up any spoilers. He also attended Elvis Costello's Voque show last Sunday.
In related news, a crew from ABC's 20/20 was just up here interviewing the cast and crew for a program scheduled to air March 29.

We will see if this pattern continues. It is possible to have a negative number of viewers?

What a drag. But you know what?? While it's on, we're just gonna sit back and enjoy the ride. Some people just don't appreciate fine tv viewing.
Bev, have you seen Dogville? It's playing here in limited release to mixed reviews. I read in the paper last night that some artists feel Lars von Trier expresses anti-American sentiments in his movies, but I wouldn't know.

I haven't seen it yet, but have read nothing but good things about it. von Trier has never visited America so his impressions are based purely on TV and film and other media. This is supposed to be an interesting film in that it is staged more like a minimalist stage play, with no houses, doors, etc. It's all imagination. I'm looking forward to it.

I read some glowing reviews and would like to see it also. The article that expressed the opinion I noted was in one of our local papers yesterday. The promo I saw on tv piqued my interest quite adequately.

Mrs. Druse is one of the many characters populating the halls of Kingdom Hospital, where doctors (Andrew McCarthy, Bruce Davison, Ed Begley Jr.) and patients (Jack Coleman) alike discover that they're not alone, but rather that the facility is haunted. Horror master King based the series on Lars von Trier's Danish miniseries The Kingdom, and the author wrote nearly every word of the show's 15 episodes following his own near-fatal accident, an incident that is re-created in the opening moments of Kingdom Hospital.
Ladd (Living with the Dead) added, “Mrs. Druse is a woman who wants justice and fair play for everyone. She's no different from a really good sheriff or a good detective or a good FBI agent. It's just that in her case, she's psychic, and her talents let her pick up living energy, living matter. She can tell sometimes who's been in the hospital and where they're going. She's also very funny. She's seen a lot, so she needs a sense of humor. It's sort of like Murder, She Wrote, but with more inclusive levels of energy.” Kingdom Hospital debuts tonight at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on ABC.
Horror no-show: ABC puts Stephen King's scary drama on hold

Good article Bev, I really liked the tone displayed by King!
Now if I can only keep fresh in my mind what has occurred until June 24th - what's 5 weeks! !@#$

Do we love our Stephen or what?? The guy is such a class act, well except for that one comment about American Idol and CSI.. (Stephen, I can appreciate all three, really!!!)
Bob, don't worry, it will all come back to you then....OR, you can just review the synopses of each show first!

I'll just get the DVD of the whole season when it comes out! Perhaps watch it from end--to-end! That would surely bug my wife - she thinks it's pretty stupid! But, what does she know! ~0
Author: Lin242
Well she's gonna know what you said as soon as I tell her.
I want the dvd set too, which is rare, cause I only have one SK movie in my collection.

I think this is different - it's not the same as a 'normal' SK movie... it's a series he wrote and ideas he developed himself, not just a book of his being translated to the screen. I know those sound synonymous, but to me they are different.
I guess it's like - hey, they made a movie from Gerald's Game. Cool. But, I have the book, so I don't HAVE to watch the movie. The closest to Kingdom Hospital would be the Eleanor Druse book - but that's different entirely.
Anyway, that's my interpretation of why the DVD is a must have.
Author: Lin242
That is a fine interpretation Rache. Yes, what Rache said.
Actually, I should have clarified that a little because I know KH is not a movie. For some reason, I've never had a desire to collect anything associated with King on dvd or tape, but this one I'd really like to have.

Well I have a few King DVDs - let's see
Shawshank, The Green Mile, The Shining (Kubrick), The Shining (Mini-series), Christine, Carrie, Storm of the Century, Rose Red, Creepshow, Cat's Eye, Pet Semetery, Delores Claiborne, Hearts in Atlantis, Dreamcatcher, IT, Misery, Stand By Me, Thinner and The Stand.
So I am missing a few that I'd like on DVD like The Tommyknockers, Firestarter, The Dead Zone, Cujo, Needful Things (Director's cut), Night Flier, Quicksilver Highway, The Golden Years, Kingdom Hospital!
Obviously they are not all good, but I'd like 'em all - some I watch over and again! Probably seen Shawshank more times than any other!
I was rewatching episode 2 and 3 to see if there was anything I had missed, and sure enough I caught a phrase said by Ms. Druse about the hauntings being “Swedenborgian.” That word struck me so I did an internet search and found alot of info on Swedenborg. Here's some of what I found:
www.swedenborg.com
”A Brief Biography of Emanuel Swedenborg
Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) was born Emanuel Swedberg (or Svedberg) in Stockholm, Sweden, on January 29th, 1688 (Julian calendar). He was the third of the nine children of Jesper Swedberg (1653-1735) and Sara Behm (1666-1696). At the age of eight he lost his mother. After the death of his only older brother ten days later, he became the oldest living son. In 1697 his father married Sara Bergia (1666-1719), who developed great affection for Emanuel and left him a significant inheritance. His father, a Lutheran clergyman, later became a celebrated and controversial bishop, whose diocese included the Swedish churches in Pennsylvania and in London, England.
After studying at the University of Uppsala (1699-1709), Emanuel journeyed to England, Holland, France, and Germany (1710-1715) to study and work with leading scientists in western Europe. Upon his return he apprenticed as an engineer under the brilliant Swedish inventor Christopher Polhem (1661-1751). He gained favor with Sweden's King Carl (Charles) XII (1682-1718), who gave him a salaried position as an overseer of Sweden's mining industry (1716-1747). Although he was engaged, he never married.
After the death of Carl XII, Emanuel was ennobled by Queen Ulrika Eleonora (1688-1741), and his last name was changed to Swedenborg (or Svedenborg). This change in status gave him a seat in the Swedish House of Nobles, where he remained an active participant in the Swedish government throughout his life.
A member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, he devoted himself to scientific studies and philosophical reflections that culminated in a number of publications, most notably a comprehensive three-volume work on mineralogy (1734) that brought him recognition across Europe as a scientist and philosopher. After 1734 he redirected his research and publishing to a study of anatomy in search of the interface between the soul and body, making several significant discoveries in physiology.
From 1743 to 1745 he entered a transitional phase that resulted in a shift of his main focus from science and philosophy to theology. Throughout the rest of his life he maintained that this shift was brought about by Jesus Christ, who appeared to him, called him to a new mission, and opened his perception to a permanent dual consciousness of this life and the life after death.
He devoted the last decades of his life to studying Scripture and publishing eighteen theological titles that draw on the Bible, reasoning, and his own spiritual experiences. These works present a Christian theology with unique perspectives on the nature of God, the spiritual world, the Bible, the human mind, and the path to salvation.
Swedenborg died in London on March 29th, 1772, at the age of eighty-four.”

There's scads of info. I'd never even heard of this man. Very interesting.

Given the series' Scandinavian origins, it's not surprised that this bit of ephemera crept in. It was also in Riget.
