KING NAMES IDIOT ALBUM OF THE YEAR

edited December 2004 in General news
(When I saw this headline, I thought at first that he meant he picked the stupidest album of the year!)

Horror writer STEPHEN KING has given a sales boost to GREEN DAY's new album AMERICAN IDIOT, by urging fans to rush out and buy it for Christmas.

The author names the punk record his album of the year in his ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY column.

King writes, "It's not just the best-selling album of the year, but one of the best to be released in the entire rock era. There has never been a record so sweet and meaningful that is so...damn...LOUD.

"American Idiot succeeds on every level. Green Day has created a rock + roll masterpiece of far greater ambition than (THE WHO's) TOMMY. I've played the spots off this sucker, and every time I listen to it I can barely believe how good it is."

Bev, I thought that too, and I've already read the column! ::)

I have to disagree with him about the awesomeness of that Darkness single, though. That song drives me up the freakin' wall. . . .

That IS funny. :) I'm not that in love with American Idiot, the single, but I like Boulevard of Broken Dreams so far. I haven't heard the whole cd yet.

  • I have that CD and honestly, I think their previous album Warning was better. Not a bad song on it. I was a tad disappointed with this one.
  • Hi

A funny thing about King's last column. In the magazine it's called 2004: The Year in Music and when it's published online Ear Candy. Don't know why that is though...

  • The titles of articles in magazines and newspapers are usually decided by the layout people rather than the author. There were probably different people doing the online layout than the print magazine.
