New short story; first draft
I caught a burst of creative activity yesterday and wrote the complete first draft of a long short story. I don't really keep track of things like this, but it may well have been a record day for productivity. The story was over 6500 words long, 23 manuscript pages, all in one afternoon.
What's amazing to me about it is that I started with a title and a mental photograph of the opening scene, which is probably no more than 200 words long. The rest of the story just unfolded as I went along. It needs work, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The working title is "You Had Me At Goodbye."
