Horror Plum'd in paperback
Georgia-based Overlook Connection Press has announced that Michael R. Collings' Stephen King bibliography, Horror Plum'd is due to be released in trade paperback later this year to coincide with the U.S. publication of the last in King's Dark Tower series.
The book, previously available only in hard cover and casebound library edition, is described by the publisher as an "incredible collection of every book, story, and ephemera published on Stephen King". It includes data on King's books - his novels, short fiction collections and non-fiction, including reprints and multimedia adaptations of book titles - as well as his published short fiction, screenplays, anthology appearances, audio and video adaptations.
The volume, coming in at over 550 pages, also features many reproductions of novels from the US and foreign editions, along with almost a hundred book cover and art reproductions. The thousands upon thousands of listings took Mr. Collings, author of previous OCP titles Hauntings: Official Peter Straub Bibliography and Storyteller: Official Guide to Orson Scott Card, over fifteen years to collect; a truly Herculean effort.
The official publication date is October 1 2004 but the street date is September 21 2004 to coincide with the aforementioned release of the seventh volume in the Dark Tower series, and the book will retail at $39.95.
At a slightly more leisurely pace will follow Fingerprints on the Sky: The Authorized Harlan Ellison Biography, as compiled and edited by Tim Richmond. This book has been produced and researched with Harlan Ellison's assistance at every step of the way, making the most complete and informative guide to the author's massive body of work.
Again, it's a true labour of love; Tim Richmond has spent the last ten years collecting and researching data for this volume and Overlook Connection Press has spent the last five years in close association with Mr. Richmond and Mr. Ellison to bring this important work to the public.
According to the latest press release from OCP, there will be over twenty-five chapters in the book, featuring Ellison's book-length publications - fiction, poetry, plays - and short fictions - short stories, novellas, non-fiction, science fiction criticism, theoretical essays, and reviews - as well as video and audio tape dramatic presentations, and selected secondary sources - interviews, reviews, articles, biographical sketches, etc. Plus, the volume will include cover art of most of Ellison's novels and collections, including some rare and unseen publications.
The guide will feature an introduction by Ellison himself, and cover art is being produced by Ellison and Arnie Fenner. Publication is currently scheduled for the Spring of 2005 in a signed limited and trade hardcover edition.
