Cover for Faithful, DT5 (trade) and DT6 (trade)

edited August 2004 in General news
Hi

I have a scan of the cover for the upcoming book Faithful: Two Diehard Boston Red Sox Fans Chronicle the 2004 Season as well as some info about it on my site for you to check out.

Also, I have the new coves (to be used for the trade editions) for The Dark Tower V (out in January 2005) and The Dark Tower VI (out in April 2005) on my site.

So, go there and enjoy!

  • Can somebody tell me why the cover for the trades are always much better than that of the hardcovers?? ::)
  • Ka Ka ;D
  • Well, it looks we'll be getting a few more chapters of Faithful -- the Red Sox clinched a playoff spot last night!
  • Baseball is not that big where I am but has the Red Sox won the World Series before?
  • Not since 1918. The famous Babe Ruth played with them at the time and he was later traded or sold to the New York Yankees, giving rise to what is known as the Curse of the Bambino (a nickname for Ruth). Some feel that trading their star player, one of the all-time best players, is what keeps the Sox from winning again.
  • And here's one Yankees fan that still has high hopes. It appears that the Red Sox will be the wild card - although that could change! The Yankees are definitely not in top form (pitching wise) and could end up the wild card. Either way the Sox and Yankees will not play each other at first, but if both win their first post season series, then they will play each other for the American League Championship - just like last year!

Last year the Sox ' hope was dashed by an unlikely hero named Aaron Boone that hit a walk off homer against Tim Wakefield, a tremendous knuckle baller, to end an extra inning game and send the Red Sox home for the season. At that poiint the curse of the bambino was alive and well!

What happens next - I don't know - but I will be glued to the TV for the upcoming battle. The Red Sox have superior pitching - the Yankees have an a-hole pitcher (one of their aces) that got mad and punched a wall and broke his hand. Both teams have impressive batters but in my honest opinion the Yankees have better "clutch" players - players that get the hit when it is necessary or make the outstanding defensive play when it appears all is lost.

I might be eating crow this year, but then there is still the Curse!

However the outcome, I expect a teriffic accounting by O'Nan and King in Faithful.
