Slaid Cleaves
Notes from the The Salt-water Music Festival
But the most surreal moment came when Maine writer Stephen King sauntered over to the autograph tent and sought out singer-songwriter Slaid Cleaves, who had just performed an A-plus set of music.
King - a big fan of Cleaves - bought two CDs, got Cleaves to autograph both and praised his music. He then he offered help with the singer's next recording project. "When you do a new record, tell me. I'll do the liner notes," King said.
Cleaves, who grew up in Maine and now lives in Texas, looked taken aback. He obviously was thrilled, but also more than a little shocked to see King at the festival and to learn he was such a fan. The two famous Mainers shook hands, traded phone numbers and went on with their business.
It was that kind of a day - full of unlikely surprises.

Bev, is your link a victim of the YaBB Censor?
I've inserted a space in it below--you'll need to copy and paste it and delete the space between salt and water.

It took a few seconds to figure out what had been censored. Hilarious!
I've never heard of him before, but he lives in Austin. Here's his web site: http://www.slaid.com
He's in the Folk bins at the local Barnes & Noble. He might be considered Country, as well.
I was kind of stumped right until I read what you said above, and when I looked again, there it was. Well, not literally , but you know. Too funny.
