A NIGHTMARES DREAMSCAPES TV Series?

edited July 2004 in General news
Sounds like that may be the case,

From a recent interview with George A. Romero:

UC: Other than The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, any more possibilities for some King/Romero collaborations?

GR: I’d love it. If we get this one off the ground, we’ll take them one at a time, but he’s got a couple of things I’d love to work on. There’s a TV series being contemplated now based on Nightmares and Dreamscapes. I’ve sort of been asked if I want to contribute to that.

Most interesting.

The whole interview, which covers all the living dead goodies currently on George's plate, can be found here:

  • Glad to know that there is life beyond Creepshow for a an actual Romero/King colloboration. And Nightmares & Dreamscapes is indeed an ideal continuation (if it comes to fruit). The stories has more of that EC feeling than SK's other short story collection, in tune with that Creepshow vibe.

    ;)

And Sevin, did you by any chance read the original script for Day Of The Dead??  One hell of a whuppa! But glad he didn't get the necessary budget to realize that script or there wouldn't be Land of the Dead today. Was so happy when I got the news from Esplatter.com two weeks ago that LOTD has been greenlighted.  About time now too. I guess there's some good after all to come out from the successful opening of the Dawn of the Dead remake although the original will forever be the one that truly kick a$$ for us true horror fans.  ;D

And if the recent news from Romero that they would like to get Asia Argento to star becomes a reality, all the more power to him.  :)

Can't wait for Diamond Dead too, although Romero has hinted that he might not be able to direct that one what with scheduling problems from all the sudden development on the living dead front.  ;D
  • Yup, I did read the original DAY script. Enjoyed it, although I prefer the filmed version -- much tighter, more focused.

LAND OF THE DEAD should be great. I read an earlier draft of DEAD RECKONING, which was pretty darned good -- I'm eager to see how much of it survived the revision to LAND.

It's a good time to be a GAR fan!
  • Hey man.

Which is your favorite among the three living dead movies so far?
  • I dig 'em all, but DAWN is my personal fave.
  • Hmmm. Interesting. Mine would be Day. By far the darkest and most disturbing of them all. Although I dig the dark humor in Dawn.

Heard that Brian Keene's The Rising has been picked up  by a movie studio. Zombies are certainly coming back in a big way.  ;D
  • I loved all the Zombie movies of yesteryear. The recent Dawn of the Dead remake just rekindled what was festering in my desire for ages.

Heading off to see Dawn's remake with Jazzbut was fantastic, and has brought back many memories of when i used to rent outzombie movies to 'get off' with dates as they would snuggle up as they were scared, or played scared.

Mind you, the movies i rented are now more comical in the story lines as to what they are today.

I think, and please correct me if i am more probably wrong, but manchester morgue(?) had the story about the goverment trying nuclear phsychics to enhance the growth of crops and it accidentally helped grow the dead back to life?

I must say, the Resident Evil movie of a few years back, made a DIRE attempt to bring Zombie to the front. The story and script would have been better if it was given to a group of scouts round a camp fire playing chinese whispers and then made to a movie. (CRinVA i know that your group could make a better movie script than that!)

Yea i know it was taken from a game, and i played it constant, but they never stuck to the game script as much as they should!

Anyway, thats my ramble if you cared to read as far as this!
  • That Manchester Morgue movie had a bunch of titles glued to it my man. The Living Dead At The Manchester Morgue a.k.a. Breakfast At The Manchester Morgue a.k.a. Let Sleeping Corpses Lie a.k.a. Don't Open The Window. Maybe there's more ;D

As far as I can remember, they were trying to kill agricultural pests with radiation. Then all hell breaks loose ;D

As for Resident Evil, they should have stuck with GAR and his script but instead they opted for another director. Couldn't agree with George's script or something. Nevertheless, they did manage to create a franchise out of it. And all the crappy things in the first movie won't stop us from going in to watch Resident Evil: Apocalypse would they boys and girls? ;D

And then there's House Of The Dead. Don't even try to get me started on this crap. My friends and I were rolling on the floor laughing our pants out throughout the whole movie... and there's not even a single booze or dope in sight. That's not a very good sign for something purported to be a 'horror movie'.
  • [pray]PLEASE!!! SK AND GAR BRNG US FROM THE HUMILIATION OF SILLY ZOMBIE MOVIES AND GIVE US A SERIES THATS WORTHY OF HORROR!!! [/pray]
  • Home Delivery from Nightmares and Dreamscapes might be a good start. ;D
  • "Home Delivery". Not a bad story. Anybody here read it in The Book of the Dead? I recall that King toned it down a bit for its second appearance, in Nightmares and Dreamscapes. That nasty severed penis...

    :)
  • The version in Nightmares & Dreamscapes would fit the TV bill of censorship better I think but you never know with Romero, IF he decides to do it and IF the project actualy gets off the ground  ;D

And provided they don't stick with ABC again  :P
