Q on 'Salem's Lot -- beware spoilers
When Danny Glick dies his test results are in the book (CHap 4: DAnny Glick and others), part 13.
SK lists
WBC - negative,
RBC - 45 % hemo ( Hemolysed ?)
later states previous exam shows 86% hemoglobin
What kind of lab results are these? I am a Medical Technologist. ( work in a hospital lab doing blood tests)
WBC - white cell count - used in fighting off infection - I could understand this being low but is usually resulted as a number in the thousands. Normal 4-12 (thoussand/ml)
RBC is also a number in the millions (3.3 - 5.5) million/ml
If there is hemolysis present it usually isn't mentioned, b/c the sample is run on whole blood. ( Hemoglobin test usually 3 times the RBC (10 -16 ) grams. and Hematocrit is a percentage of cells to plasma (liquid portion of blood) again normal range is 3 times the Hemoglobin or 9 times the RBC, (30-48) %.
So what the heck is an 85 % hemoglobin result ???? Where did Stephen do his research for this???

Secondly: you're assuming King did research and didn't just pick this up from the back of a cereal box!
It was also 30 years ago too, when most of us were just being born, so it's concievable that how things are done today weren't done then.
It's alot like watching an episode of ER today compared to the first ever series around 10 years ago, and the massive differences in medical technology are evident + haircuts and phones and such. lol
