This was interesting.  Should artists tell meanings and messages in their songs? Or should they leave it to the listener to find the path that speaks to them?  

I’m miss curiosity — tell me. I want to know. I will still find a meaning that relates to me, i always do. With every story you guys or anyone tells, i relate it to my experiences and my life.  Not to one up, but to connect to you. I’m a weirdo that way.

I think it should be up to the receiver to do the interpretations, be it book, song, painting or anything else. I think the artist often should let the art speak for itself. It can of course lead to misinterpretations and i am sure it often do because humans are different but if the art has made the recipient discuss and interpret it has succeeded regardless if the interpretation is, according to the artist, wrong. It has made the recipient think! That is, in my book, a success story for any form of art.

....agreed, yet this song meant so much to so many, that regardless of each person's interpretation-it was, to me, valuable to have the "code" broken, to finally see what the generational musings and philosophies the song encompassed.....sidebar, when I was DJ'ing-the damn song was so long-we had to have two copies of the 45rpm, so that when the first side began to wind down-we had the flip side cued up so that we could try for a seamless segue....
