  • Jazz: Insomnia is such a great story - you won't be disappointed :)

BH - is a good book also, but I've forgotten alot of it, having only read it once. But somehow, The Talisman does nothing for me :-/
  • It's great to see so many differing opinions on these books. Everyone seems to favour different books, but I guess that just shows how different SK's books are that they can appeal to different people in different ways.

It was Talisman i didnt think alot of, and i never attempted Black house as far as i know, it was the follow up to that book.

I might attempt that book after i finish WotC
  • Andy, I think you should definitely read Black House when you can. Like Bev says, if you can make it past the first 100 pages or so you have it made. I don't know how other people felt specifically, but I found the opening narrative much easier the second time around because it then fit in with the rest of the book.

    Lin :)
  • Talisman's pretty good but Black House is awesome!

You could read them in reverse order with no real harm. OTOH BH resonated with me to a greater emotional degree because of what happened in the Talisman.
  • both BH and Talisman are great, but I like Talisman better.

Would love to read the background story on Parkus someday.

Finished TRTTDT a few weeks ago, returned it to the library, unemployment's bummer, and I was back at the library today wandering around trying to remember the Sci Fi author whose book about Alt Universes was an influence on SK.

The only thing I could remember was the his name started with an S. Finally gave up, the copy of TRTTDT was checked out.

Just did a search on Amazon.com on TRTTDT and found the references to Clifford Simak's "Ring around the Sun". Hadn't used Amazon's book search before but it was great.

I've already reserved it from the library online and can't wait. I've read all of SK's books several times, so it's always excited to read something new.

I'd like to thank Bev Vincent for the great book on The Dark Tower and letting Amazon provide the book search stuff. I'll be using that more in the future.

sorry about the long post, but I just discovered this site and I'm sooo excited.
