'Salem's Lot -- Centipede Press

edited July 2004 in General news
This is the first Salem¹s Lot update. The bulk of the book is nearly on press with Finlay Printing of Connecticut. The colophon, which will hold the signatures of Mr King and Mr Uelsmann, are being printed now, along with the photographs of Mr Uelsmann as meticulous 300 line screen duotones.

The bindery has ordered the cloth for the cloth edition and slipcases and traycases, which will be shipping from Japan. The skins for the leather edition, from England, have also been ordered.

Everything is running smoothly. Watch for more updates

in September.

  • Wow - makes me want that book even more!

I know a couple of you on this board have a copy of this coming, so remember - you have to describe in detail how great it is when you get it!

    Salem¹s Lot update 2

    Hello everyone,

This is the second Salem¹s Lot update. The bulk of the book

is finished printing at Finlay Printing of Connecticut. Next

will be folding and collating of the sheets before it is sent

to the binder, Campbell-Logan in Minneapolis. Stephen King

and Jerry Uelsmann have signed the signature sheets.

My rep at Finlay Printing called me to let me know that

everyone involved with this project at the shop is very

excited. Visitors to the press, some of them other

publishers with jobs on press, have all been inquiring

about getting a copy of Salem¹s Lot ... not because it

is a collector¹s item, but because it looks do damn

    good!

I¹ll let you know in a few weeks how the bindery

is moving along. We¹re still shooting for October 31.

Hopefully, it will all work out.

Also, if anyone needs to correspond with me in between

now and pub date, could you please put limited edition

or Salem¹s Lot or Stephen King in the subject field

of the email? My spam filter still allows nearly 200

worthless messages a day, and generic subject fields

are likely to be deleted, along with all the investment

opportunities, Xanax ads, Viagra ads, and pornographic

    messages.

Again, thank you all for your understanding and

    encouragement.

    Best Wishes,

    Jerad Walters

    Salem's Lot update 3

    Hello everyone,

This is the third Salem's Lot update. The book is in the

hands of Campbell-Logan bindery of Minneapolis. They

are working on the book at a furious pace and they have

expressed concern about their ability to finish to the

book by Halloween. It may be that I will have a small

number of books done by Halloween with the remaining

bulk finished near the second week of November. Greg

Campbell writes: We are very concerned about meeting your

Halloween publication date. We are hard at work now cutting,

folding & collating the specials. This is a big book. It is

important to us to do a good job and this will take time.

Please remember that this is a huge book. The cloth

edition alone weighs ten pounds, the leather considerably

more. Everyone is working hard to complete the book

and I will give you more updates around October 20.

Although everyone may not be familiar with it, there

is also an unsigned edition of Salem¹s Lot available. This

edition is limited to 600 copies. The size of the book is

still 9 x 13, and includes all the text from the limited edition,

including the deleted scenes. Only one of the Jerry Uelsmann

photos will appear in this edition however.

This edition will ship in early December. The price is $95

+ $15 shipping. We are accepting ONLY checks and money

orders at this time, no credit cards or PayPal payments. If

you live overseas, please contact us before ordering so that

we can determine a shipping and payment method.

Colorado residents will need to add $3.99 for state

sales tax. Let me know if you are interested in

    copies of this edition.

Again, thank you all for your understanding and

    encouragement.

    Best Wishes,

  • Salem's Lot update 5

    Hello everyone,

This is the fifth Salem's Lot update.

The books are in my garage. I am packing them up and getting them ready for shipping, but there are over 300 books, and I am just one man, so it is going to take a few days (and I still have a straight job to work!). I will be packing them up and hopefully have all of them sent out by next Tuesday at the latest. They will be going USPS priority mail. I will drop off a load at the Post Office every day on my way to work so some will get there sooner than others.

The unsigned copies of the book are still scheduled for December.

Again, thank you all for your understanding and encouragement. Please note our new address.

    Best Wishes,

    John
  • Got #230. Wow... what a huge book! It's actually too big for my glass/locking collection cases. hehe... I'm not complaining... it's beautiful.
  • Holy moly! And he started bidding at $9.95!
  • It may have started at only $10, but I bet it had a pretty high reserve.

It doesn't look like a reserve auction. Normally they say "reserve met." This one doesn't.
