  • Bev, where did you see this Margaret Atwood entry?  Hulu? Netflix? Is it a documentary sort of thing?

And I was really looking forward to seeing The Good Liar in theaters but just didn't get to it. Was it good?  I love Helen and Ian.  Two real talents for this one, was the plot good?

  • The Margaret Atwood documentary is on Hulu -- highly recommended.

The Good Liar was good -- with those two actors, how could it not be? -- but I saw what was going to happen about 20 minutes into the movie, so it was a little anticlimactic.

Okay, I just watched the Atwood doc.  That was terrific.  What a wondrous and beautiful brain she has.  So interesting and so smart!

I was lucky enough to get to see her speak at our local university.  I could have taken two steps and touched her I was so close. She was mesmerizing.  I just leaned forward and listened to her talk -- what an amazing person.  And, she was so generous.  She said that she would stay until the last person in line had a book signed.  Unfortunately, I could not stand in the line.  I physically couldn't do it.  Broke my heart but I just couldn't because my body wouldn't let me.  And the person I was with wasn't able to stay to be the last person to get a book signed, where I could sit until the very end and then walk up to her.  Makes me sad to this day.

I do have to say, the documentary had me in tears here and there.  So good.

  • Is this the Call of the Wild with Harrison Ford?  So, what did you think? Did they pull it off?
    Notaro
  • Yes indeed—we loved it. When I saw the trailer months ago I wasn’t encouraged be we decided to give it a shot last night. Charming and very well done. I thought the CGI animals would be a turnoff but they weren’t.

  • The Lost Husband -- goat farm.

You had me at goat farm.

  • @BevVincent, what did you think of Greyhound?

  • It was quite exciting. Other than a brief setup scene before Hanks takes his captaincy on the escort destroyer, it is full out nautical warfare. Not much characterization, mainly action.

Thank you, I'm looking forward to seeing it--love his action movies. (and of course I was kidding about the Tom Twitter thing)

  • I see you watched Da 5 Bloods. Thoughts?

spike is not one of my favorites, but this looks like he might have a winner.

  • It's terrific. Delroy Lindo (from The Good Fight) puts in a powerhouse performance. My wife and I both loved it.

  • ....I found it interesting that Clapton helped "save" their career.....

  • Or at least he's willing to take credit for it! There were so many great songs that I'd forgotten were theirs, but I was especially surprised to learn they wrote "Islands in the Stream."

....and I agree, their catalog is deeper than most people would think.....Grease is another one that was somewhat surprising....unless you put their voices with it instead of Frankie's......
