New novel in the making?

edited June 2004 in General news
In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly (the one with Christian Bale on the cover), is a small article about Song of Susannah. The article also mentions that along with the upcoming baseball book, King is also working on a new novel, and says that he's not sure how it's going, but since he "retired" the pressure is off of him.

How about that? A new novel!

  • He he, I just saw this in your newsletter. Interesting indeed. I guess it's not a Dark Tower novel. ;)

We SK/DT junkies don't have much to look forward to now that DT 7 is coming in Sep, apart from the odd story published somewhere. So, this is something to start waiting for. ::)
  • That is most promising!! I get my newsletters at my work e-mail, I'll have to check when I get back. :) Thanks Lilja!

    :o I hope that's a typo Jojje, cause I expect to see DT 7 on September 21! :)

    Yes, September, that's what I wrote. ;D
  • It will be interesting to see if this goes anywhere.

Only time will tell, I suppose.
  • I knew it! The man is much too young to retire! 8)
  • Would be nice seeing a new book, but hope King gets plenty of rest now in his semi-retirment, and well we will see when he releases what he releases and what it may be about. But good to hear :)

Did this post make any sense at all?

Made sense to me, but then I was about to post something similar :D

I'm interested in what he will choose to publish now that he's out of the shadow of multi-book contracts and publishing deadlines. That he speaks of the pressure being off bodes well, I think.

    HBJ,

not knowing whether King was actually pressured by his deadlines or met them with ease, but this is just a message board, right? ;)
  • He really seemed fascinated for a while there with alternate distribution - e-books like "Riding The Bullet" and the installments of "The Plant," for example. Maybe he'll explore things like that further...

Or, maybe he'll just write stuff that no one else sees except him and his family. If that's the case, so be it. Hopefully, whatever he does, he'll enjoy it.

    Blu
  • Yep, Blu, we've got to be fair now and King has given us many decades of good entertainment...so I am okay with however long it takes for him to write his new book and do whatever he pleases with it.

It's gotta be good not writing to contracts and such.
