  • Lilja reports that Swedish film company Noble Entertainment plans to release the DVD of Dolan’s Cadillac on July 1st.
  • From Dread Central

You win some and you lose some. That's a fair assessment of Stephen King adaptations. So which side does Dolan's Cadillac end up on? Check out the trailer and predict for yourself.

You can dig up some stills as well as the trailer over on the official Minds Eye Pictures website, but in my opinion the trailer would have been better off left buried. After all it was King himself who taught us that "Sometimes, dead is better."

See for yourself after the plot crunch and tell us what you think below in our comments section.

    Synopsis

"Based on Stephen King[ch8217]s eponymous short story, Dolan[ch8217]s Cadillac is a dark tale of murderous and unrepentant revenge. A modern twist on the Edgar Allan Poe classic [ch8216]The Cask of Amontillado,[ch8217] Dolan[ch8217]s Cadillac proves that revenge really is a dish best served cold.

Robinson is a non-descript middle school teacher whose beloved wife, Elizabeth, witnesses an execution in the desert and becomes a target for the executioner, notorious Las Vegas crime boss Jimmy Dolan. Dolan[ch8217]s vast wealth was accumulated through his human trafficking operation, a lucrative business he will not jeopardize. The mobster succeeds in having Elizabeth killed before she can testify against him. Without a witness to the murders, Dolan goes free.

The knowledge that Dolan is behind Elizabeth[ch8217]s death fosters in Robinson an insatiable thirst for revenge. However, Dolan is virtually untouchable, traveling only in his custom Cadillac with tank-like protection. On a steep descent into madness, Robinson begins seeing visions of his dead wife wherever he goes. Spurred on by Elizabeth[ch8217]s spectre, Robinson begins his elaborate plan to kill Jimmy Dolan.

The Cadillac that was once his armor may now become his tomb.

This is vengeance, Stephen King style."

  • Not sure exactly what they mean by "due out":

Emmanuelle Vaugier recently finished shooting the psychological thriller Dolan’s Cadillac, a film adaptation of Stephen King’s short story of the same name, with Christian Slater. It is due out in December.

  • After watching this (with Swedish subtitles, which made it slightly more entertaining), my prediction is: straight to video. Wes Bentley (Robinson) is terrible, and the filmmakers make a misguided but valiant effort to turn Dolan into Flagg, even quoting lines from The Stand to describe him. Emmanuelle Vaugier (Elizabeth Dolan) is the best thing about the movie, and she's gone after 20 or so minutes. The film lacks any sort of internal logic or consistency, and Bentley shows less dramatic range than Keanu Reeves.
  • Eagle Entertainment is preparing 'Dolan's Cadillac' starring Christian Slater for Blu-ray release on April 6.

The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include cast/crew interviews, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and B-roll footage.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $24.98.
