Congratulations Sunny! It was a perfect first flight. She flew in the direction of the Roost Tree, showing off her beautiful strong wings. This was the first fledge from the attic - Spirit and Simba fledged from the High Perch. May your wings be light and your feesh be plentiful, our Sunny-girl! ❤️️ Juveniles usually come back to the nest in a few hours or days. They will hang out in the general vicinity of the nest for about 3-12 weeks, before they disperse on their Grand Journeys. For the first few years, they will be nomadic and may travel thousands of miles away from their natal territories. SoCal fledglings are seen as far North as British Columbia, as far East as Yellowstone, as far South as Baja California. Once they reach maturity around 4-5 years, they tend to return to within 100 miles from their natal territories to breed.
