  We had to “show our work” in algebra. I would break it down and break it down and break it down and step through the looking glass and continue straight to the pits of hell with my own formula. 

  
  

  I would get my paper back — with the correct answer circled — about 5 steps back. Everything after the answer was on another plane of existence.

  I was clueless. I imagine it would be like me stumbling into a sex orgy not realizing everyone was naked doing weird shit to each other.
