Vacation’s over
My long vacation is nearly at an end. I’ve been off work since the Friday before Christmas, but I have to go back for a three-day week tomorrow. Many of the daytime hours for the first week or so were … Continue reading
A whale of a finale
I spent much of Saturday responding to a series of interview questions. The interview will appear online in January. Links will, of course, be provided. I also polished off my Storytellers Unplugged essay, “Not the time to rewrite your text,” … Continue reading
Let’s all play Battleship
I finished The Twelve by Justin Cronin this weekend and posted my review. It’s a decent book, but it has some problems, some of them attributable to “middle-of-the-trilogy”-itis and some by questionable story structure. My review is posted here. I also reviewed Revenge … Continue reading
The knowledge
Watched Fearless Felix take his amazing leap into the history books yesterday. I can’t help but think there were moments when he had to ask himself what on earth he was thinking. Finished The Wire this weekend. The “serial killer” … Continue reading

Miller Time
Our rain continued off and on over the weekend. It wasn’t too bad on Saturday but we had a heavy downpour yesterday. The timing was perfect: I hadn’t yet mowed the lawn so I couldn’t. The first thing I got … Continue reading
It’s a kind of magic
I think I only had to mow the lawn two or three times all last summer because of the drought. I mowed a week ago Saturday before the rains came and I had to do the same thing again this … Continue reading
