The next episode of Doctor Who is “Midnight.” It is an interesting study in contrasts as it begins in a very leisurely style, lulling the viewer into a false sense of complacency (perhaps a little too much lulling) and then it suddenly becomes very tense. The last half of it is as stressful as anything I’ve seen in Who. It’s an interesting look at paranoia and xenophobia. The previews for what comes next have me counting the days.
I finished Bruen’s Cross last night. I liked it well enough, but I’m not hooked the way I was after reading my first Ian Rankin novel.
I’m still mucking about with the new short story, spending more time rewriting and rearranging what I’ve already got down than adding anything that propels the story forward. However, on the way to breakfast this morning I figured out what the ending was going to look like, so I scrawled that down on a sheet of paper and I’ll probably try to put in some more work on it tonight.
