Good to see some new episodes of regular series again, though how long those will last remains to be seen. C.S.I. was a little different last night, with its focus on the bull-riding culture. I like stories that dovetail and merge, but I thought the coincidence of the killers accidentally knocking off another person intimately connected to their first victim a little much. Sure, things like that probably happen in real life from time to time, but it’s hard to get away with that level of coincidence in fiction. In some ways, fiction has to be less strange than reality.
The melodrama continues on Grey’s Anatomy. I liked the faith healer character, especially the way she read Alex, and her sidekicks’ derisive comments about him. I’m tiring a little of the (on-again/off-again)∞ thing with Meredith and Shepherd, though. Their relationship has lost all dramatic tension. They should get together so they can spend down moments in episodes bickering about toothpaste caps and toilet seats.
I finished the first chapter of my new novel this morning. Actually, I finished it yesterday morning—I just hadn’t realized it. I backed up a few paragraphs, did some tweaking and ended the chapter on a fairly dramatic note. Then I continued on another 1000 words, so I’m a tad above 5000 at the end of the first five days of writing. I discovered a few neat tidbits to work in during my research yesterday. I’m not exactly sure where the rest of this chapter is going, so I stopped at the end of 1000 words, even though I had plenty of writing time left. Need to do some cogitating before I carry on.
My web site and message board are down for a bit because of server problems with my web hosting service. Should be back online in a while.
