Sunrise, sunset and CSI spoilers. Grey’s Anatomy, too.

This time tomorrow I’ll be somewhere over the Pacific, in the process of acquiring a monumental case of jet lag. Tokyo is the destination. I leave late tomorrow morning and get into Narita on Sunday afternoon. Thirteen hour flight and fourteen hour time difference. Woo-hee. On my return next Friday, I get back home two hours before I leave. Ain’t that something?

So, we found out who the miniature killer was on C.S.I. last night, and Grissom’s fellow CSIs learned something they hadn’t figured out previously (something that a total stranger had, though!)—Grissom’s feelings for Sara. It was a rewarding payoff to this season-long on-again/off-again thread, and a good cliff-hanger, reminiscent of the one a while back when Nick was buried alive.

Deconstruction seems to be a theme this year, with The Unit and Criminal Minds and now Grey’s Anatomy. Last night’s episode dealt major blows to just about everyone. It was relentless. George flunked his internship exam. Burke called off the wedding and didn’t get Chief of Surgery. Nor did Sloan or Addison. Alex dallied too long and lost Ava/Rebecca. Bailey didn’t get Chief Resident. Webber’s estranged wife miscarried, and he lost the son he didn’t know he might have had. Izzie professed her love for George, but George wants to have kids with Callie instead, and Callie is now Izzie’s boss. Cristina lost her eyebrows and her fiance. Shepherd was offered Chief of Surgery, but turned it down. Shepherd and Meredith are “so over.” Meredith’s half-sister is one of the new interns. When it comes to good news, the only up moments were: Addison’s new TV show was picked up for the fall (okay, not exactly plot), everyone else passed their internship exams and Callie got Chief Resident. What a train wreck. But I mean that in the best possible way.

Probably won’t be any posts until my return, unless I’m wide awake in a Tokyo hotel room trying to figure out why it’s pitch dark in the middle of the day…

Sayonara.
