We have a low pressure system off the coast that has a remote possibility of turning into a named storm. Unlikely, but possible. At the very least it should make for a rainy weekend, which isn’t a bad thing.
I was very pleased to see Jordan whoop Natalie in round two of the final HoH contest. I always knew she had it in her. It’s a shame, really, that she isn’t privy to the discussions in the jury house to see how public opinion has turned against Natalie. If she knew that, she might be tempted to take Natalie to the final if she were to win HoH. As it is, she’ll probably take Kevin, and the decision between the two probably isn’t as clear cut. The finale should be interesting.
Four years ago, at NECON, I met artist Allen K, who is also the editor of Inhuman magazine. He asked me to write an essay, which I did a couple of months later. He paid me for the essay and then suffered a series of health issues that delayed publication of issue #4. His web site was updated a couple of days ago with the finalized cover and table of contents, and the magazine is due back from the printer next week. I barely remember what my essay is about, so I look forward to receiving my contributor copies. My title was “Stephen King’s Monsters,” but Allen chose to use the title that I have for today’s entry: When the Monsters Get You. Full table of contents available here. Among the other contributors are Robert Silverberg, Joe R. Lansdale and Chet Williamson, Steve Vernon, Mary San Giovanni, Joe Nassise, Darren Speegle, Darrel Schweitzer, Matt Cardin and Mark McLaughlin. For the first time ever, my name appears in a red starburst on the cover of the magazine!
Thrillers: 100 Must Reads, edited by David Morrell and Hank Wagner, is now with Oceanview Publishing, and should be out as a hardcover in July 2010. My entry is an essay about Thomas Harris’s Red Dragon. The book is a fund raiser for the ITW (International Thriller Writers). I’ll post more information about the book as it becomes available.
