Tomorrow is Hockey Day in Canada. Of course, anyone who grew up in that country knows that pretty much every day is Hockey Day in Canada. And it is, of course, sponsored by that Canadian culinary king, Tim Hortons. (Tim Horton was a hockey player, in case you didn’t know.) The kickoff event comes from Campbellton, N.B., which happens to be the city where I was born. Events will be simulcast on NHL.com. Go Habs!
For the first time in a few seasons, the two teams on Survivor seem to be comparatively evenly matched. At least, one of them isn’t running roughshod over the other. The strategy of combining reward and immunity challenges is interesting. Giving a team an entire day to stew over the decision of who to evict can cause some shifting allegiances. The behind-the-scenes footage on cbs.com is interesting. We didn’t get to see, for example, that Spenser cut himself pretty badly with a dirty knife. Or that Sandy sacrificed her bra to make fishhooks!
I believe that C.S.I. is getting back to fundamentals with the new Langston character. Exploring such basic things as the way the investigators have to reevaluate their theories of a crime when new evidence presents itself. Last night’s episode reminded me of the one where Gil noticed a new fingerprint on a matchbook while on the stand giving testimony. He brought it to the court’s attention and re-opened the investigation.
We’re all told about the egos of surgeons, and Derek has had his moments on Grey’s Anatomy, but he went into superego mode this week. His dark side emerged. The way he was gobbling scotch at the end doesn’t bode well. Izzie’s story is the one I’m most interested in at the moment, and it’s taking some dramatic turns.
I’m still having a little trouble regulating my body temperature at night. My temperature is reading consistently low, in the 97.2-97.7 range, but I get bouts of sweats at night. I’m on antiviral meds, so I hope that stops soon.
