45° today; almost 80 by Thursday. If someone could figure out a way to harness the power of oscillating mercury, we could put an end to the energy crisis.
I received a couple of gift cards to bookstores, so I placed orders today for the new Charlie Huston novel, the second Chelsea Cain novel, the upcoming Grisham and Stephen King Goes to the Movies.
I went back to the gym today for the first time since mid-December. About a week ago I felt all the tone go out of my leg muscles like the air out of a balloon. Good to get back on the metaphorical treadmill again. If I hit the gym three noon hours each week, I can keep in moderately good condition.
Drood by Dan Simmons doesn’t come out until this time next month, but I decided to post my review last night. In brief, I really liked the book, and it is a much faster read than its 770 pages might lead one to believe. I little research-laden, but that’s its only flaw, in my opinion.
Some more developments in a project I’ve alluded to in recent weeks. My agent is expecting to see a contract very soon and I turned in a 10-page outline, so it’s definitely going to happen. I can’t reveal any details still, however.
Cold Case was better than usual last night, the story of a guy who won 8.5 million in a lottery and squandered what he wasn’t bilked out of, before being murdered. I taped The Unit since I had to get up early this morning to start working on the aforementioned project. Many shows are still in rerun this week. Still no sign of our missing Sleuth channel, though.
