A decent episode of Survivor last night. Bob’s ill-considered offer to Kenny was amended in the aftermath. I would have lost all respect for Bob if he’d actually kept that promise. It would have been an act of legendary stupidity to rival Yao-Man’s gambit a couple of seasons back. I didn’t expect Sugar to pass over the immunity idol to Marcus, though. I don’t think he needed it, but it was good for a few moments of high drama as Crystal realized what that probably meant. The final five is a good mix. They’re all agreeable people who’ve played the game well in vastly different ways. Susie is like the phantom of Survivor—you hardly even realize she’s there. Kenny’s clever, Bob is very smart and resourceful, Sugar is charming and underestimated and Marcus… Why is Marcus still there again? He’s physically strong but other than that, I’m not sure why he’s survived to this point. The big finale is Sunday.
The reactions to Grissom’s announcement on C.S.I. were nice. I liked the scenes between him and the DNA expert (can’t recall her name) and between him and David. “There are bugs everywhere,” he tells the medical examiner. “I’ll miss you, though.” The introduction of Fishburn’s character was well done. I can’t imagine him taking over Griss’s role at CSI, though. How could he step into such a high-powered position? I’m thinking that Catherine will probably be promoted and Fishburn will come in as an expert but someone in need of forensic training? Guess we’ll see.
It didn’t snow today, though it was near freezing this morning and there was a solid coating of frost on the ground. Again, it was about 15° warmer in Halifax this morning than it was in Houston, but that’s about to change as we head back up to the 60s and 70s.
