Season finale of House: very, very good. It showcased all the characters’ strengths and weaknesses. At first, I thought that 13 and Amber had an affair at some point, to explain 13’s disorientation, but the actual explanation was even better. The big unanswered question from the season is: what will happen to House and Wilson’s relationship going out. I was interested to see that the water bed was gone from Wilson’s house. The question of whether or not to bring the patient out of the coma was an interesting one, too.
Behind the cut: The Unicorn and the Wasp—or was it The Wasp and the Unicorn? The most recent episode of Doctor Who takes place in 1920s England and features Agatha Christie as the special guest at the kind of British luncheon/dinner that featured in many of her novels. Interestingly, they chose to highlight the real-life mystery in Dame Agatha’s biography: her unexplained disappearance after she found out about her husband’s infidelity. The episode is a “Where’s Waldo?” for Agatha Christie fans. I spotted over a dozen direct and mangled references to her book titles (Why didn’t they ask…Heavens! (instead of Evans) was the first and Murder at the Vicar’s Rage (Vicarage) one of the latter.) There may have been other character references that I didn’t catch. Beyond the tribute to Ms. Christie, it was a fair-to-middlin’ episode in terms of the alien content, though the Doctor’s theatrics during the great reveal were a little much.
The three comedies went out with Big Bangs and whimpers. Tonight’s NCIS two-hour finale should be good, though.
I’m still waiting for the story to start in The Reapers fifty pages in. If he wasn’t such a good writer, I might have given up by now.
