I inherited my laptop computer from my daughter when she upgraded. I don’t travel with it, I just use it when I want to work away from my desk, which usually means on the couch while the TV is on. It’s none too peppy, but then again I’m not trying to crack encryption codes, just run Word and IE. However, I decided to spend a few bucks and plug in another memory chip. Went from 256 MB to 1.25 gigs. It’s like I’ve got a brand new computer. Don’t know why it took me so long to get around to doing this. I knew that the low system memory was the prime issue.
Law and Order was pretty good last night. It started out as a riff on the “wide stance” bathroom scenario that was popular last year (and exploited well on Boston Legal) but went in a different direction, as is the show’s habit. My favorite line came from McCoy: That has to be the politest bail skip apology we’ve ever received (paraphrased—the actual line was funnier).
Tonight is LOST night. Woo-hoo. The preview in the newspaper today said that this episode and the next one are among the most exhilarating ever.
I didn’t think I was going to accomplish much on the novel this morning. I got off to a late start—side tracked by entering information into TurboTax—and I wasn’t at all sure where I was going to go with the story, but once I got on a roll, I wrote 1500 words. At the end of the session, I just a tad under 25K words. A pretty good first month, I’d say.
