Doing it by the book

I’ve been invited to do a book signing at Murder By the Book in Houston in April. I’ll post more information as it becomes solidified. It might be just me or there might be others present. I’m hoping for the latter.

When I interviewed Frank Darabont for Rue Morgue magazine, he told me that he was going to try rendering The Mist into black and white to see how it looked. If it turned out okay, he said he’d consider adding it to the DVD version. Guess it turned out okay. The 2-disc version of the DVD, coming out on March 25, will contain the theatrical release and the B&W version, along with a bunch of special features. See News from the Dead Zone for full details.

I received a rejection from Crimewave yesterday. Printed out the story again and sent it back off again this morning. Gotta keep those plates spinning on those poles lest they all come crashing down.

A little over 1300 words added to the manuscript this morning. Chapter 7 is running really long, but I’m not sure of how to split it up. I’m just plowing ahead at this point and I’ll worry about structural things later, especially if I get bogged down at some point. Rather than sitting at the computer and staring at the blinking cursor I can always go back and revise. I find that a good way to jump-start the process when I run out of things to write for a while.

Caught up on taped programs last night (SVU and Boston Legal). Both were sorta okay episodes, neither of them worth discussing at any length. Also watched Criminal Minds while I continued to work on book reviews. Again, not a note-worthy episode, though I look forward to reading Elizabeth Bear’s comments about it.

It’s a cold, dreary, rainy day here, though I don’t expect much sympathy for our 43° weather from those of you who can display the current temperature on the fingers of one hand.
